The spring chuck refers to the use of the elastic deformation of the steel jacket to clamp the workpiece. Generally, the shape has a certain taper, and the two ends are notched. In the free state, the inner hole is slightly larger. When the spring chuck is installed in the taper hole of the spindle when the relative position of the chuck and the spindle axis changes, the inner hole of the jacket will be reduced, which will tighten the object. The source of power for the relative movement of the jacket and the taper hole of the spindle is compressed air.
The clamping force of the pneumatic chuck is small, and the clamping force of the spring chuck is adjustable. If there is a serious jump after clamping the workpiece, what can we do?
1) Check the full runout of the taper hole of the spindle. Generally, the radial runout of the new machine tool is about 5um.
2) Install a spring jacket, clamp a standard sample rod, and check the runout at 3 times the diameter. The accuracy requirements depend on the workpiece accuracy requirements and the accuracy of the collet.
There are many kinds of precision grades for the spring jacket, the main difference is the radial runout at 3 times the diameter, there are 3um, 5um, 10um, etc., which can be selected according to needs.
When installing the collet, the beating direction of the jacket and the beating direction of the main shaft should be offset or weakened as much as possible to avoid the superposition of errors.
